After graduating from Columbia College Chicago, John F Duffy carved a unique path across the United States and life itself. He has waited tables and tended bar, painted houses and trimmed trees. He has been a backwoods homesteader and was once threatened by the CIA (along with his co-creator Ray Nowosielski) for the information revealed in the podcast “Who Is Rich Blee?” He was twice nominated for an NAACP Image Award for his journalistic efforts in producing the I Heart Radio Podcast, “After the Uprising.” In 2019 he began publishing short fiction and in 2022 he released his first novel, A Ballroom for Ghost Dancing. In 2024 he founded the literary press Picket Fire and that same year he published his second novel, Where When It Rains. Duffy is a husband and a father and his forthcoming novel Away in the Baby’s Breath, a brutal look at grief, is informed by his love for his daughter.
